PROTECT-CHILD at the IEEE BHI Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics

On October 30th 2025, the PROTECT-CHILD consortium attended the IEEE BHI international conference in Atlanta, Georgia, and organised a workshop to showcase project results.

Hosted at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a partner in the PROTECT-CHILD consortium, the conference provided an exceptionally enriching experience that enabled PROTECT-CHILD partners to disseminate project insights to a high-caliber international audience and to take home key lessons that will help us tackle the challenges ahead more effectively.

We had the pleasure to organise a workshop during the conference, titled “PROTECT-CHILD: Federated Intelligence for Secure and Personalised Paediatric Transplant Care”. The workshop featured presentations from several project partners, including Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), MultiMed Engineering (MME), BIOMERIS, Belit, SERMAS, Sapienza Università di Roma, and Georgia Institute of Technology. The workshop aimed to:

➡️ Showcase how federated learning, zero-trust architectures, OMOP on FHIR, and quantum algorithms enable secure and ethical data sharing.
➡️ Explore future pathways for federated, privacy-preserving, personalised paediatric care.
